Africa: SADC (Southern African Development Community) : The Declaration and Treaty establishing the Southern African Development Community (SADC) was signed at the Summit of Heads of State or Government on July 17, 1992, in Windhoek, Namibia, with the main aim of coordinating development projects in order to lessen economic dependence on the then apartheid South Africa. SADC replaced the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC), in existence since 1980. SADC headquaters is in Garbarone, Namibia.
